Bill R. McCoy 1924-1990
The BAR MAC RANCH was established in mid October, 1965 by Bill R. McCoy in Logan County, Oklahoma.
(4-1/2 W & 2 N m/l of “Vet Corner”, on now Hwy.105).
McCoy chose to raise Black Angus Cattle on the Ranch, in preference to the numerous other evolving breeds, having recognized Black Angus’ superior genetic & functional attributes.
McCoy also Realized the “Rancher Friendly” advantages of this Breed, namely:
Low Birth Weight
High Milk Fat Production
Gentle Minded & Protective Nature of the Cow
Naturally “Polled” (Born Hornless); & Dark Utters.
McCoy discovered the nutritional superiority of Black Angus Beef as higher in B vitamins: B-6 & B-12, and higher in Zinc, Iron & Protein than the average beef cattle.
Bill’s son, Craig Wm. McCoy began retailing beef to the public in 1999, & helped and helped to organize and participateD in the
Edmond Farmer’s Market 2002 to 2012 as a
Food Service & Meat Sale Outlet.
The “Reale McCoys” operated a
Restaurant & Meat Sale Outlet in
Guthrie 2002, to 2014, when the State Highway Dept "Took" our building for a bridge improvement project.
